The 27-year-old midfielder enjoyed his highest goal-scoring campaign last term. He netted ten goals and registered three assists in 43 outings. His double strike against Brentford and Chelsea helped the team amass crucial points.

His current deal with the Red Devils expires next summer but the club have the option to extend it by a further 12 months.

Galatasaray vice-chairman Ibrahim Hatipoglu has said discussions over McTominay are ongoing.

He said: “McTominay’s transfer fee is being discussed. Negotiations are ongoing [for] McTominay and Doue. Wan-Bissaka is not our priority.”

Erik ten Hag had deployed McTominay in numerous roles last season.

The Scotland international played as a holding midfielder, number 10 and even led the attack for his side at times.

Ten Hag also used him as an impact substitute to add physicality and a source of aerial dominance in the final third.

West Ham United were interested in the United Academy graduate last summer. They even tabled a bid of around £30 million but United remained determined on their £40m asking price.

Fulham were reportedly leading the chase to sign the midfielder. McTominay is on a £60,000-per-week contract at United. We believe the Red Devils should only consider selling the midfielder if a bid in the range of £40m-£50m is received.

If not, United should offer a new deal to the midfielder as he is a robust squad player.

McTominay can don multiple hats and could play a key role if there are injuries in the squad.

United are eyeing a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte

this summer.

Casemiro’s dip in form last season has highlighted the need for Ten Hag to bolster the midfield department, making the acquisition of Ugarte a crucial priority.
