The movement has formally requested permission to use Eagles Square from August 1 to 10, 2024, as part of the #DaysOfRage initiative. However, the Minister’s demand for payment has thrown a spanner in the works.
Wike claims his office has not received a formal letter requesting the use of Eagle Square, despite the movement’s assertions to the contrary.
In an interview with Channels Television, Damilare Adenola,
Director of Mobilization for the Take It Back movement, slammed the Minister’s request, saying It’s absurd to ask protesters to pay rents and security fees when they are already struggling to make ends meet. This is a clear attempt to stifle our voices and suppress our right to peaceful protest.”
