In a statement issued today by the group’s coordinator, Ojieh Ejehi, the group welcomed Edwin-Iwo, who replaces Funsho Adegboye as the 47th Commissioner of Police in the state.

As the state prepares for its governorship election, the Young Edo Professionals Group urged Edwin-Iwo to start his new role with a commitment to neutrality.

They stressed the importance of an unbiased approach to law enforcement, especially given the heightened political tensions leading up to the election.

The group specifically called for an immediate investigation into a recent violent incident on Airport Road, which resulted in the death of a police inspector.

The violence instigated by APC youths has raised concerns about the potential for further disturbances. Addressing that incident transparently is crucial to preventing further escalation,” the young professionals stated.

Furthermore, the Young Edo Professionals Group cautioned against any potential bias or involvement with political parties.

They warned that any attempt to interfere with or undermine the democratic process could lead to unrest and violence.

They also urged Edwin-Iwo to ensure that his actions and decisions are fair and impartial to all parties involved.
