The decision was made public in a statement issued on Saturday after an emergency meeting where the group reviewed the state of the nation, focusing on how current economic issues are affecting the people of the Niger Delta.

According to a report obtained by SaharaReporters, the coalition demanded an investigation into the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, and his team. They called for accountability regarding the missing N164 billion and insisted that Kyari and his team should be removed from their positions.

The group expressed their concerns, stating that corruption in the country has reached alarming levels, especially in key sectors such as the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, NNPCL, Power Sector, Education, and Steel.

They criticized the NNPCL for failing in its role as the current importer of petroleum products, highlighting the high levels of corruption and fraud despite fuel prices exceeding N700 per liter. The coalition noted that Nigerians are suffering from inflated prices, with a kilogram of cooking gas now costing over N1500, and kerosene becoming unaffordable.

The coalition accused Mele Kyari of shutting down functional refineries in Port Harcourt and Warri, which were operating at 60% capacity before his appointment

. They also questioned the ownership of a refinery in Malta, allegedly linked to Kyari’s associates, where Nigerian crude is exported, refined, and then re-imported at a higher cost.

The group condemned the operations of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Ministry of Niger Delta Development, labeling them as scams that have failed to benefit the people of the region. They called for the immediate release of funds owed to these organizations to speed up development in the Niger Delta.

Additionally, the coalition demanded the immediate dismissal of Mele Kyari, top management of NNPCL, and other officials in the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, citing incompetence and corruption. They also urged the government to investigate the alleged embezzlement of billions of naira by these individuals.
