Ikenga criticized the recent attack on the APC’s Secretariat, describing it as a calculated move aimed at undermining the party’s leadership in Rivers State. He expressed fears for their safety, noting that the protest, which initially focused on economic issues, has now shifted to what he perceives as political persecution.

During the interview with TVC, Ikenga remarked, “The assault on our Secretariat was evidently premeditated. It was aimed at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and was intended to weaken both the party and its leadership in Rivers State. It’s clear that the Rivers State Government is involved in this matter. Governor Fubara, being an accountant by training and now the governor, should have been aware of the potential damage these protests could cause. The situation has become chaotic and violent. The governor shouldn’t have supported the protest in the first place. Now, we are frightened for our lives because the protest’s focus in Rivers State has shifted from addressing economic issues to engaging in political witch-hunting. Protesters were discouraged from targeting the residence of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, due to the heavy security presence around those areas.”
