The President of the 10th Senate, who spoke today at an Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium event, where the APC officially presented flags to its candidates for the upcoming local government elections scheduled for October 5, assured his constituency that he would embarrass them with more projects.

While maintaining that the APC possesses undeniable capabilities to secure electoral victories in Akwa Ibom state, Akpabio pledged to impress the residents of Akwa Ibom with a multitude of projects, appointments, and empowerment initiatives, aiming to dispel the prevalent notion that the APC lacks a significant presence in the state.

He said: “There are people who say let us dismiss APC that APC does not exist in Akwa Ibom. Nobody can dismiss APC in Akwa Ibom. I assure you that you haven’t seen anything yet. I will embarrass you with projects. I will embarrass you with appointments and empowerment.”

The Senate president boasted that he had fulfilled his promise to take Akwa Ibom to centre of Nigerian politics and would take them even higher.

“I promised I was going to take you to the centre. Are you not now at the centre? This is just the beginning. We will complete it,” Akpabio told the crowd at the event.

Speaking further, he said, “The problem we have today is nothing but empowerment. You have to eat. We are formally launching the Godswill Obot Akpabio (GOA) Back to Farm Initiative.

“I am starting that with 600 bags of fertilizer per local government in the 31 LGAs in the state. My wife is coordinating that. And the fertilizers will come with bags of rice to all the LGAs. Among projects you will have, at least I61 are ongoing, but you will have more than that.

“You have 14 ICT Centers under construction we are going to commission for your use. We have eight ongoing construction of Police Stations. We have 30 schools currently ongoing. Every LGA in my Senatorial District has a modern market project ongoing.

“Before December we are going to commission seven town halls. We are constructing 14 primary health centers. For Intensive Care Hospital, we are doing one to complement what the state government is doing, all to bring quality health care to you people.

“I can confirm that 42 new roads are under construction. We have already, on the ground, 25 transformers to take light to villages that do not have it. Get ready for empowerment. Many students of the state are going to get cheques for the second phase of their scholarship across my senatorial district.

“Those not going to school are going to be empowered, including the back to farm programme. I thank President Bola Tinubu for the various appointments for Akwa Ibom’s sons and daughters. There is N50,000 per month to at 1000 beneficiaries to the 31 LGAs. We are going to complement the state government on food distribution.”

Like Ita Enang, the state APC LG Polls Campaigns Committee Chairman expressed the day before, The Senate President said, “For the local elections, I believe that Governor Umo Eno is a democrat and that where any candidate of APC wins, he will respect it. I have that confidence that as a man of God, he will not want to take away your right. We will win this election.”
