Speaking at the commission’s inaugural press conference on Thursday, held at the State High Court, Miller Road, Kano, Justice Mohmoud emphasized the commission’s determination to discharge its responsibilities without fear or favor.
He warned that failure to comply with the commission’s summons would result in legal action.
He outlined the terms of reference for the commission, which include investigating the root causes of the breach of peace and destruction during the first week of August 2024, identifying individuals or institutions responsible for the unrest, assessing the extent of damage and loss of life, and recommending measures to prevent future occurrences.
The commission, guided by the Kano State Commission of Inquiry Law, will submit its findings to the Governor of Kano State within one month of its inauguration.
