In response to the escalating security threats, including banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism, Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, has ordered the Chief of Defence Staff and other senior military officials to relocate to Sokoto State. This strategic move is intended to enhance the government’s counter-insurgency efforts in the region.

The Ministry of Defence, through spokesperson Henshaw Ogubike, emphasized that this relocation highlights the government’s determination to address these security threats. This decision follows public outcry over a viral video showing bandits celebrating after capturing a Nigerian military armored vehicle.

He affirmed the government’s commitment to using all available resources to restore peace and security.
