According to residents, “El Rufai’s work ethic remains second to none” and his dedication to restoring the FCT Master Plan has yet to be matched by any subsequent minister. In contrast, many believe that the eight years under the Buhari administration were particularly turbulent for the FCT, attributing this to the perceived shortcomings of then-minister Mohammed Musa Bello. Residents expressed apprehension before the unveiling of the new cabinet by the current president.
However, the swift and vigorous approach of Nyesom Wike as the current minister has surprised many residents. They assert that if Wike maintains this momentum, he “is on line to surpassing the exploits of Malam Nasir El Rufai.” This makes it surprising that Senator Hajia Ireti Kingibe, representing the FCT,has criticized the minister for neglect and underperformance.
While some residents sympathize with the senator and recognize potential challenges in her relationship with the minister, they believe she should seek more diplomatic channels to convey her concerns and foster cooperation.
