Wife Of Delta Lawmaker Escapes, As Kidnappers Kill Two Policemen, One Driver In Failed Kidnap Attempt

Oasis Magazine learnt that during the kidnap operation, two mobile policemen including a driver accompanying Mrs. Uroye were reportedly shot dead.

The incident took place on Monday night.

The bloody incident took place at about 7pm along Jakpa Road in Uwvie Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria.

According to an eyewitness, “the security personnel and the woman’s driver were instantly shot dead before whisking the wife of the lawmaker away.

But unfortunately for the kidnappers, their get away car had accident while escaping which enabled the woman to escape”, said the witness.

A horrifying video showing the shot policemen while passersby were seen wailing beside the woman’s SUV has since gone viral.

Reports say that the fortunate wife of the lawmaker is presently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital at the time of this report.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, SP Bright Edafe, was quoted as saying that “the operation was not successful”.

Reacting, a rights activist, Derrick Agberen, recalled how on the 18th of August, 2024, a Police Corporal, Chibuzor Ojobule, attached to Ebrumede Divisional Headquarters was shøt on Commissioner Road, Off Uti, Effurun, by ärmed men suspected to be kidnappers.

He added: “Today, September 2, two mobile policemen were also killed alongside the driver, while the woman they were escorting was kidnapped at Okoloba junction in Effurun, Delta State.

“I await the Nigeria Police Force, Delta State Command’s response to this tragic and sad incident, or if they will feign ignorance.”

In his words, “unfortunately, insecurity is now closer to the people than it has ever been before.”
