Expressing his gratitude for the support he received during his tenure, the party acknowledged Nwaka’s contributions over the years.

In his resignation letter titled “Time for me to quit,” Nwaka revealed that although he initially intended to keep his decision private, circumstances compelled him to go public.

Nwaka stated that the time had come for him to pursue a new direction in his life.

He reflected on his time leading the Abia State chapter of the PDP, where he served for five years without scandal.

Under his leadership, the party enjoyed considerable success, winning two consecutive governorship elections, controlling the State House of Assembly, and securing nearly all the National Assembly seats in two general elections.

Nwaka also mentioned that he had distanced himself from the PDP for some time, declining invitations to their events.

He expressed a desire to take a break from active political party involvement but did not rule out the possibility of aligning with another party in the future if necessary.

He said, “I resigned from PDP a long time ago and I have not been attending their functions. They have been inviting me. Let them allow me to rest.
“I don’t have to be in the platform of any political party to be of service to my people. But in the future, if it becomes necessary for me to align with any political party, I will also make it known, but for now, I want to be alone.”
