Wike told Ex-LGA Chairmen Their Tenure Would Be Extended; They Are No More In Office – Sydney Gbara

He threatened to cause unrest in their states if they tried to take control of the PDP structure away from him and his supporters in Rivers. He said that as long as he and his supporters were around, no one would be able to take away their control of the PDP in Rivers State.

However, Gbara criticized Wike’s statements, saying that Wike was trying to give false hope to his supporters, who might be feeling disappointed after several unfulfilled promises. Gbara said that Wike had

previously promised former local government chairmen in Rivers State that their tenures would be extended by 6 months, but that didn’t happen. He also mentioned that members of the state assembly who followed Wike’s advice to join the APC lost their seats.

In Gbara’s words; “We recall that he promised the former local government chairmen that their tenures would be elongated by six months, today they are no longer in office. The assembly people who he advised to cross the carpet to the APC have lost their seats. So, it is just a message of hope so that it won’t look as if they’ve lost out completely”
