Goals have not been an issue for Mikel Arteta‘s side in the opening two games of the new Premier League campaign.

The Gunners have been able to beat Wolves and Aston Villa by a score line of 2-0 on both occasions.

However, Arsenal have seen Gabriel Jesus sustain an injury issue already this season which has required the Brazilian to undergo a scan.

Kai Havertz has been able to get off the mark but there will be questions as to whether Arsenal have the quality at striker to take the crown off Manchester City.

And it now seems as if Arsenal are monitoring the possibility of making a late move in the market for one of the top strikers about.

Arsenal lining up late hijack for ‘world class’ striker

So far, the Gunners have landed Riccardo Calafiori and Arsenal are also close to completing the signing of Mikel Merino.

With no new forwards through the door yet, the expected exit of Eddie Nketiah is going to reduce Arsenal’s options up top even further.

However, there could still be a late move on the cards for the north Londoners who are reportedly ready to pounce.

According to Rudy Galetti, Arsenal could launch an eleventh hour ‘hijack’ for Victor Osimhen before the end of play on Friday.

The report claims the Gunners are still looking for a striker in the final days of the window with the Premier League title on their mind.

Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are also credited in the piece with an interest in the Nigeria international following his rejection of a move to Saudi Arabia.

Osimhen’s future remains uncertain entering the final days of the window but Napoli have already shown their hand having agreed a £55m deal with Al-Ahli over the weekend.

Arsenal could land the title if they sign Victor Osimhen

Signing a player of Osimhen’s ilk would be a huge boost to the Gunners in their pursuit of winning the Premier League this season.

Osimhen has been hailed as ‘world class’ and that is something which Arsenal currently do not have in their side.

Of course, Havertz has shown he is capable of playing up front but Arteta could, ideally, do with an out and out striker who is capable of providing 20+ goals per season.

The Nigeria international led Napoli to the Scudetto back in the 2022/23 campaign where he netted 26 goals in the league alone.

Osimhen could be the missing piece to the Arsenal puzzle which Arteta seems to have almost completed.
