However, the 19-year-old may soon make a move to the Scottish Premiership, according The Sun.
It’s a move which his father failed to make during his distinguished career, despite coming close.
Ronaldinho was chased by St Mirren in 2001, prior to a £15million transfer to Paris Saint-Germain from Gremio.
Looking to sign a forward on a short-term deal, The Saints, attempted to loan him before his registration was exchanged – a possibility due to when the Brazilian league season ends.
But in the end ‘sensitive legal matters’ stopped the move materialising.
Now his son could end up in the Scottish top-flight as Burnley consider shipping some of their young talent out on loan.
Described as a ‘development player and a project’ by Clarets boss Scott Parker, he could be allowed to get regular games across the border.
And that would come with Dundee, a partner club to Burnley, who were relegated from the Premier League last-term.
However, like his father, there is a chance Mendes could see this move scuppered by red tape.
Burnley, like all clubs, can only make six international loans, so the move will be in limbo just in case other stars need short-term transfers abroad.
