After completing a Diploma in Public Administration, he ventured back into politics, becoming the Chairman of Yola-North Local Government under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
During his tenure, Yola-North Local Government witnessed unprecedented developments, including the construction of clinics, rehabilitation of primary schools, and provision of portable drinking water through boreholes.
These projects have had a direct impact on the lives of the people in the Local Government Area.
Mijinyawa’s commitment to justice, equity, and fairness has shaped his worldview. As Commissioner of Land and Survey and later Minister of Local Government, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, fostering a seamless working relationship between the state government and Local Government Areas.

With the granting of autonomy to Local Governments by the Supreme Court, Mijinyawa’s efforts will ensure a cordial relationship between the state government and the third tier of government in Adamawa State.
