HOLLYWOOD: I Shot Lisabi To Glorify My Egba Heritage — Adedimeji Lateef

Famous Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Adedimeji Lateef has spoken on the motive behind his latest production, ‘Lisabi’. According to him, the epic movie rides on the success of his 2021 movie, ‘Ayinla’ to further glorify his Egba heritage....READ THE FULL ARTICLE HERE ▶▶

In a post on X, the actor explained that the biopic chronicles the escapades of the an Egba warrior and farmer, Lisabi.

“After my exploits in ‘Ayinla’ movie, I knew I had to do this to further glorify my Egba heritage. Egba people, this is for you. The entire Yoruba, Africa and Blacks worldwide, this is for you,” he wrote.

A Netflix Original Movie, ‘Lisabi: The Uprising’ starts screening on the streaming platform on September 27. Its sequel, ‘Lisabi: A Legend is Born’ will be released come January 2025.

Produced by the actor’s wife, Mo Bimpe and directed by Niyi Akinmolayan, the movies have Dimeji Lateef as Executive Producer

“We are proud of everyone who made this happen, from the amazing director Niyi Akinmolayan to the cast and crew of this masterpiece, it’s time for us to celebrate the energy we all brought to the table,” he wrote.

Set in the 18th century, the film tells the story of an Egba farmer who ignites a rebellion against the oppressive Oyo Empire. His defiance leads to the defeat of over 6000 Oyo soldiers, secures Egba’s independence after centuries of subjugation.

The movie stars the likes of Ibrahim Yekini, Lateef Adedimeji, Gabriel Afolayan and Jide Awobona, Femi Adebayo, and Odunlade Adekola, among others.
