He stated that the governor failed to express condolences to the family of the deceased officer but instead threatening that Nigeria would burn if his supporters were arrested. He dismissed claims that the governor was taken out of context, citing the video evidence of the governor’s exact words. He argued that such statements are seen as a sign of weakness and desperation as he believes that the governor’s recent behavior is a sign of the end of the PDP political reign in Edo State.
He said in an interview with AIT from 13:57, ”When there was an attack on our candidate and Philip Shaibu at the airport and which led to the death of a police inspector, the governor did not even express condolences to the
family of the deceased officer. He was telling his supporters that Nigeria will burn if anybody arrest his boys. You don’t talk like that at the level of executive power of a governor.
His people who said he was taken out of context are being economical with the truth, we all saw the video and the exact he used was that Nigeria will burn if these boys were arrested. Those kind of statements are statements of desperation. The moment a tiger is telling you that don’t you know I’m a tiger, he’s no longer a tiger and that is the end of the road for him. The PDP are worried ahead of the polls because they know they have set a bad precedent in the state. By virtue of statistics on ground, we are only counting days and we are confident of victory.”
