Speaking to reporters after a meeting with the organization’s National Executive Council in Lagos, Bishop Oke acknowledged the patience of Nigerians despite widespread hardship. He urged the government to swiftly implement the new minimum wage to alleviate some of the burden.
“We understand the difficulties Nigerians are facing and appreciate their patience,” Bishop Oke said. “However, we urge President Tinubu to expedite his efforts, as prices of goods and services have soared, making life even harder for the people.”
He also emphasized the need for a non-violent approach to protests, while urging the Federal Government to prioritize job creation and the stabilization of the naira. Additionally, he called for the prompt operation of Nigeria’s refineries to help reduce fuel prices.
“The protests are a clear sign that Nigerians are in pain, and it is essential that the government takes swift action to address these issues,” Bishop Oke added.
