A source in the Commission told Daily Sun that Garba is the Managing Director of Novomed Pharmaceuticals, the pharmaceutical company at the center of the drug supply scandal.

Also arrested were the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ibrahim Mohammed Kabara and the Chairman, Kano State branch of the association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Abubakar Bashir.

“Two or three other persons have so far been arrested and they are cooperating with us” he stated.

The commission, Daily Sun gathered, had accused them of violating the financial management law, the public procurement law and the public complaints and anti- corruption laws of the state.

Public officers among them were in addition accused of awarding a contract without the consent of the governor of the state, Abba Kabiru Yusuf.

The top management staff who spoke to Daily Sun insisted that those detained will pass the night in their facility adding that contrary to the concerns and fears of the opposition, the Commission has the capacity to investigate any person or institution that falls short of the laws governing public finance in the state.

He recalled that in the past, the Commission had arrested top officials of the state government for corruption, some of whom were eventually dismissed by the former administration.

“it was also the Commission’s attempt to probe Governor Ganduje and his family members that led to the sack of our Chairman, ” he stated.

Daily Sun reports that the alleged supply scandal which has raised so much dusts in the state was exposed by a film maker and content creator, Galandanchi who had alleged that the 44 interim chairmen in the state were asked to deposit about N9m each into the account of the said company for the procurement of drugs and medical equipment .
