Keyamo’s warning was delivered in a letter to UK Transport Secretary Louise Haigh, emphasizing that Air Peace’s current operation at Gatwick Airport undermines the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) between the two countries, which ensures reciprocal airline rights. He highlighted the discrepancy where British carriers have unrestricted access to Nigeria’s major airports, while Air Peace has struggled to secure slots at Heathrow.

Keyamo demanded prompt action to address this issue, stating that Nigeria will not accept continued unfair treatment of its national carrier.

Following this, Daily Sun inquired with the UK Transport Secretary’s office about the receipt of Keyamo’s letter and the UK government’s plans to resolve the matter. The response came from her researcher, Henry Smith, who indicated that the query had been forwarded to the Department of Transport.

Daily Sun also submitted a Freedom of Information request to the UK Department of Transport, which confirmed receipt and promised a response in due course.
