In a video shared on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, August 14, Idris highlighted the government’s commitment to giving young people various opportunities.
He urged all youths to explore these programs, which aim to support them in different areas.
Government Encourages Youth Participation
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) also shared information about these government programs, urging Nigerians to take advantage of them.
The NOA stated that the Tinubu administration is making important decisions to solve the country’s economic problems, especially after the fuel subsidy was removed.
The agency emphasized that many of the programs are designed to help young people, who make up about 76% of Nigeria’s population. They encouraged the public to learn more about these opportunities and get involved.

Here are some of the major programs created for Nigerian youths:
- Student Loan Scheme: This program provides loans to students in approved schools and vocational centers across Nigeria. Recently, 22 more state-owned institutions were added, bringing the total to 108. The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) also announced a monthly stipend of N20,000 for over 20,000 students in various institutions.
- Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF): The NYIF offers financial support to young entrepreneurs aged 18 to 40, helping them start and grow their businesses.
- Skill-Up Artisans (SUPA): This program, launched in June, aims to train five million young people in various trades nationwide. The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) is leading this effort, focusing on improving artisans’ skills in all local government areas.
- 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme: This initiative aims to train three million young people in technical skills to support Nigeria’s digital economy. The program is part of the government’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda and is managed by the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy.
- Digital and Creative Enterprises (iDICE) Programme: This program focuses on helping Nigerian youths aged 15 to 35 develop their skills in technology and creativity, to increase their chances of employment and encourage entrepreneurship in the tech and creative sectors.
- Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA): NiYA is an education and empowerment platform aimed at youths aged 18 to 35. It includes students, non-students, graduates, freelancers, and startup founders.
- National Youth Talent Export Programme (NATEP): Launched in 2023, NATEP aims to create one million jobs over the next five years by positioning Nigeria as a global hub for talent sourcing and service export.
- Micro and Small Business Loans: This program offers financial assistance to small business owners aged 18 and above, helping them grow their businesses.
- NDDC Youth Internship Scheme: Managed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), this program provides hands-on experience, skills training, and financial support to youths in the Niger Delta region. Interested participants can register online.
