Oshiomhole pointed out that if good governance were merely about eloquence, then Governor Obaseki, with all his big words, would have transformed Edo State into a little London by now. But, as Oshiomhole put it, “grammar doesn’t build roads, provide clean water, or improve education and sanitation.”
He went further to highlight Ighodalo’s failures as the chairman of Alaghodaro, noting that he couldn’t even influence a single road construction or bring meaningful development to Ewohimi, his hometown. Oshiomhole questioned Ighodalo’s connection to his people, pointing out that the PDP candidate doesn’t even speak the local dialect and lacks a personal residence in the village.
As an in-law to Ewohimi through his marriage to an Ewohimi woman, Oshiomhole claimed a stronger bond with the community than Ighodalo himself. He contrasted Ighodalo’s meager donation of 100,000 Naira during a security crisis with the generous contributions of Monday Okpebholo, who provided vehicles and significant financial support.
