According to Wakil, the suspect originally from Jos North Local Government Area travelled via a commercial Vectra vehicle to Bauchi State.

He said, “On the 6th of August, 2024, a concerned citizen from Jos North LGA, Plateau State boarded a commercial Vectra vehicle from Sabon Garin Narabi Toro LGA, Bauchi State, en route to Bauchi.

”Upon reaching Tilden Fulani Market in Toro Local Government Area, Bauchi State, a 62-year-old man named Tahir Ahmed stopped the vehicle and joined the journey to Bauchi.”

Wakil added that while in transit, the 62-year-old man allegedly transformed some papers into new naira notes after some ritualistic chanting.

He said this gave rise to suspicion by onlookers in the commercial vehicle that the notes might be counterfeit.

He also stated that upon arriving at Bauchi Metropolitan around Yandoka Road, a good samaritan reported to the police station.

Wakil said that after a series of interrogations, Ahmed reportedly admitted to the crime.

The sum of two hundred and thirty-eight thousand naira suspected to be counterfeit notes was recovered from him.

”Investigations are ongoing to uncover further details related to this incident stating that the command police commissioner, Auwal Muhammad has instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, to send a request letter to the Central Bank of Nigeria for forensic analysis to determine the authenticity of the suspected currency notes,” Wakil concluded….READ FULL ARTICLE
