Despite acknowledging that her actions were against Nigerian law, Ella explained that her desperation to keep her husband from leaving led her to destroy his passport. She faced widespread criticism, particularly from other women who deemed her actions unjustifiable.

In response, she expressed remorse but stood by her decision, saying, “I’m very sorry, but to be sincere, I did it to prevent my husband from going back because I have seen so many things. I’ve gone through pains that cause me heart pain today, pains that give me headaches.”

Ella also mentioned that despite her husband’s attempt to appease her by gifting her an iPhone, the issues in their marriage have persisted. She declared her readiness to face any legal consequences, stating, “If you have a way to invite the immigration police, come and they should come. I am ready to face it.”

Her husband later revealed that he had secretly asked a friend to record the incident at the airport, adding that this was not an isolated case of his wife’s behavior. He stated, “My wife didn’t know I gave my friend my phone to record us at the airport. That’s how she behaves—just a small issue like this that we can sort out indoors as a family, but my wife will always blow it out of proportion and push it up.”

TheNigeriaLawyer investigation revealed that the couple, who use the username @jejojafamilytv, are Facebook and Instagram content creators, raising questions about the authenticity of the passport-tearing incident. Speculation has arisen about whether the incident was a scripted performance for their online audience.

In response to the viral video, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Monday announced that it has launched a formal investigation into the incident. Service Public Relations Officer, DCI Kenneth Udo, disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja that the individual has been identified and invited for further investigation.

“If the allegations are substantiated, her actions would have constituted a breach of Section 10(b) of the Immigration Act 2015 (as amended), with corresponding penalties outlined under Section 10(h) of the same Act,” Udo stated.

He further emphasized, “The Nigeria Immigration Service remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding the provisions of the Immigration Act in the interest of national security, and to preserving the dignity and integrity of the nation’s legal instruments.”

As of now, it remains unclear if the couple’s actions were genuine or part of a content creation strategy. The NIS investigation may provide more clarity on the authenticity of the incident and its potential legal implications…READ FULL ARTICLE
