Tragedy as contract staff dies after jumping into company’s iron melting pot in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the incident.

According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the police, the safety officer at the company reported the incident to the Sagamu Road Police Division on August 3 at around 6:00 p.m.

The incident occurred at a company located in the Industrial Scheme of the Odogunyan area in Ikorodu.

On the same day, around 3:15 p.m., the contract staff member, who was part of the AOD Section of the company, allegedly ran towards the iron melting pot—a restricted area during operations.

Despite the urgent attempts of his colleagues to prevent him, he jumped into the pot, where he was entirely consumed by the molten iron.
