With the Certificate of Occupancy issued, construction work on the site is set to commence soon. The project has secured funding of up to two billion naira (N2b) in the 2024 Appropriation, thanks to the support of President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The site was donated by the community through traditional rulers several years ago for Navy Hydrographic purposes but had seen little activity. However, Otunba Engr Gbenga Daniel’s emergence as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Navy provided the opportunity to revive the project with an expanded scope.

Otunba Engr Gbenga Daniel thanked traditional rulers in Ogun Waterside, including the Ojotumoro of Abigi and Osobia of Makun, for their significant contributions. He also acknowledged the support of His Royal Majesty, Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba S.K. Adetona.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, and his team have been invaluable partners, contributing to the nation’s maritime security and demonstrating exceptional collaboration he said
