Obasanjo made these remarks at his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State, during a meeting with six members of the House of Representatives. The legislators, led by Ugochinyere Ikenga from Imo State, are co-sponsoring bills advocating for a single six-year presidential term, rotational presidency between the North and South, and the rotation of governorship among the three senatorial districts in each of Nigeria’s 36 states.

Obasanjo emphasized that character is a crucial quality for leadership, one that he finds lacking in many current public office holders.
