In a press briefing on Wednesday, July 31, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of Economy, Wale Edu, disclosed that the president is not against the ongoing nationwide protest as long as it remains peaceful.
Protest continues unbated in major states such as Bauchi, Kano, Lagos, Abuja, Rivers, Borno, Abuja, Sokoto, Oyo and Osun. Demonstrators are protesting against issues such as bad governance, hardship, hunger and insecurity that has plagued the country.
Among the inscriptions on the placards of protestors include “End bad governance!”, “End insecurity now!”, “Tinubu let Nigerian breath!”, “No to poor living conditions”, among others.
Tinubu’s statement has stirred angry reactions from some Nigerians on social media.
