Concise News reported that the #EndBadGovernance protest that commenced on August 1 was hijacked by hoodlums who set ablaze and destroyed public infrastructure.
In a display of growing frustration over economic hardship, hoodlums in Kano set a bonfire outside the Government House on Thursday morning. The demonstration was part of a nationwide protest against the rising cost of living and other economic challenges facing Nigerians.
Protesters from various parts of the metropolis gathered at the Government House, where Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf was expected to address the crowd. As tensions rose, some demonstrators began assembling tyres and set them alight near the entrance gate.
In response to the escalating situation, security personnel stationed at the Government House fired gunshots and deployed tear gas to disperse the crowd. The sudden use of force prompted chaos, causing the protesters to scatter in multiple directions amid the confusion.
Meanwhile, the Digital Innovation Park of the Nigerian Communications Commission set to be launched next week in Kano has been set ablaze and looted by hoodlums.
