ONDO ELECTION: Monarch’s wife, son, chiefs, party leaders, others dump APC for PDP

According to reports, 18 High Chiefs led by Chief Adubiaro, son of the monarch, Prince Sina Momoh, five ward Women Leaders and hundreds of others, announced their decampment to the opposition People’s Democratic Party in Akoko North East council area of the state.

They declared that ”They chose to leave a Party that continues to entrench poverty and pains on the people.”

Speaking on behalf of other former leaders of the ruling All Progressive Congress, High Chief Adubiaro, said that ”The desire to reverse the current trend of lack and want in the nation and the belief that there is a need for a rebirth for a better tomorrow informed their decision to part ways with a Party that is ineffectual in administering the nation.”

The ward women leaders who had weeks ago resigned from the APC, expressed their solid determination to join hands with Hon Agboola Ajayi to rebuild Ondo State.

They said they resisted massive pressure from the governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, not to decamp because they believe that the APC has failed to deliver good governance.

Earlier in the Ugbe community, hundreds of APC leaders and members who joined the PDP, burnt the party’s symbol, the brooms, to break ties with the ruling party and promised to work tirelessly for the victory of PDP in the November elections.

It was gathered that these new members were received into the Party, by Olorogun Eddy Olafeso on behalf of the National Chairman of the party.

Olafeso reassured them that they have equal status with other Party members and appreciated their decision to join the Party at a crucial period when Nigeria needed deliverance from clueless governance.

The party’s governorship candidate, Hon Agboola Ajayi, thanked the new members for taking a massive step of faith in the PDP by joining the Party.
