Michael Okunlade, chairman of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, has asked the people of the Oyo state not to be distracted by the lamentations of Governor Seyi Makinde over the judgement of the Supreme Court in local government autonomy. According to the politician in a statement made available to OYOINSIGHT.COM, he said Makinde is in the habit of blaming others but pretends to be a virtuous leader.
This would be the second time Okunlade would be reacting to statements by Makinde on the judgement.
“I have repeatedly watched the video of Governor Seyi Makinde reacting to the Supreme Court judgment. After careful consideration, I encourage the people of Oyo state not to be swayed by his deceptive response.
“Although there is already widespread hunger and anger in the country, the additional suffering brought about by his government’s policies and actions to the people of Oyo State is unimaginable. Governor Makinde has intentionally impoverished the people of Oyo state, and the amount of money that has left the state in the last five years is both unfortunate and unbelievable. Despite his campaign promise to prevent capital flight, many of the contractors working for the state are unfamiliar to the people of Oyo state.
“It is evident that he is quick to blame others while pretending to be a virtuous leader.
“It was reported that a committee has been formed to address the gap left by the supreme court. This is fake and a major distraction. We must resist the idea of creating a committee to address the lacuna resulting from the Supreme Court’s decision.
It is an attempt to continually drain the resources of local government, and it is essential to safeguard our local governments from this manipulation. This distraction is dangerous and is simply a tactic to delay the implementation of the judgment, which they are adept at doing.”…READ FULL ARTICLE
