PDP In Disarray As Ex-Lawmaker, Party Chairman, 235 Others Join APC In Niger

This is coming barely three weeks after over 150 members of the party, including women and youths dumped the PDP and switched their allegiance to the ruling party in Gulu Vatsa community in Lapai LGA of the state.

The over 235 defectors which include former member of the state House of Assembly, Hon John Bahago and his supporters, Munya local government PDP Chairman, popularly referred to as Osama, ward party executives from Guni and led by former member of the House of Representatives for Munya/Shiroro/Rafi Federal constituency Hon. Abdullahi Mohammed Ricco.

While receiving the defectors, state Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Barrister Maurice Bello Magaji, accompanied by some of the local government party Chieftains, commended them for taking what he called a “wise decision”.

He assured the decampees that the APC administration under the leadership of Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago is poised to actualize the “New Niger agenda” with over 500 road construction.

Accordingly, he said, “The governor is on the verge of correcting the wrongs of many years. There is nothing wrong if all the opposition parties in the state decide to adopt the governor as the sole candidate for the 2027 election”.
