BREAKING: Land Of The Rising Sun: See The Biafran National Anthem And The Person That Wrote it

The Biafran national anthem, titled “Land Of The Rising Sun”, was written by Nnamdi Azikiwe for the seceded Republic of Biafra. Its tune was adopted from Jean Sibelius’ “Finlandia”.

Land Of The Rising Sun

Land of the rising sun, we love and cherish,

Beloved homeland of our brave heroes;

We must defend our lives or we shall perish,

We shall protect our hearts from all our foes;

But if the price is death for all we hold dear,

Then let us die without a shred of fear.

Hail to Biafra, consecrated nation,

O fatherland, this be our solemn pledge:

PAY ATTENTION:  JUST IN: FG, Labour to resume minimum wage talks Thursday

Defending thee shall be a dedication,

Spilling our blood we’ll count a privilege;

The waving standard which emboldens the free

Shall always be our flag of liberty.

We shall emerge triumphant from this ordeal,

And through the crucible unscathed we’ll pass;

When we are poised the wounds of battle to heal,

We shall remember those who died in mass;

Then shall our trumpets peal the glorious song

Of victory we scored o’er might and wrong.

Oh God, protect us from the hidden pitfall,

Guide all our movements lest we go astray;

Give us the strength to heed the humanist call:

To give and not to count the cost’ each day;

Shaibu: When I Started Counting, I Called Obaseki 111 Times During That Crisis, But He Never Picked

The reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philips Shaibu, stated on Friday that he considers himself an unofficial member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Although still officially a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he indicated that his affiliation with the PDP was only formal, as reported by PUNCH….READ FULL ARTICLE

Shaibu explained that his support for the APC governorship candidate in Edo stems from his spirit having already left the PDP.

He emphasized that the constitution allows individuals to support any candidate or political party they choose. He clarified that, while he remains a PDP member in name, his allegiance lies with the APC. He expressed that his only remaining ties to the PDP are formalities, such as his PDP party card, and that he has not yet picked up an APC party card. He stressed that in terms of spirit, he has already shifted to the APC.

He said, “As of now, I’m a PDP man and I will not support anybody while I am in another party contrary to who I am supporting. For now, I am a member of PDP but going forward, I am good as being a member of APC; I can tell you that.

“The only thing that is keeping me in PDP is that I have not officially declared. Talking more seriously, I am actually a member of APC, but on official. My spirit has left PDP for a long time, it is only my leg and body that are still there because my PDP party card is still with me and I have not picked an APC party card yet. But in terms of spirit, my spirit has left PDP and is now in APC.”

I sent him texts, and he never replied, but it never really mattered. The last text I sent to him was on his birthday,” Shaibu said…READ FULL ARTICLE

You Left Your State In Mourning And Went To Dance Away Your Life In Enugu – APC Knocks Gov Lawal

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State has accused Governor Dauda Lawal of celebrating with his peers in Enugu State amid insecurity in the state.
The publicity secretary of the party, Yusuf Idris Gusau, lamented that the governor still has the courage to dance in Enugu, alongside his counterparts after 54 persons were killed and hundreds kidnapped in just one week….READ FULL ARTICLE
Speaking via a statement, the APC claimed that Lawal was nonchalant towards the plight of the people of Zamfara.
They reminded the Governor of one of his major campaign promises in 2023, where he assured that he would end banditry in the State within his first month in office.
The statement reads in part, “ It is precarious to see a leader like Governor Dauda Lawal showing nonchalant attitude to the plight of his people having left the state in mourning to dance his life away along with his colleagues, PDP governors in Enugu State.
“The Governor who released his trending video to the world on social media, is seen happily flanked in Igbo attire in a line dancing with other PDP governors barely a day after scores were killed in his State as if nothing had happened.
“Just to mention a very few recent cases in this current month of July, 2024, on the 8th, bandits attacked Kofar Jangebe situated in the central hub of Gusau, killing a policeman and a security guard to Alhaji Isiya Lalan whose son the bandits also kidnapped.
“Shortly following was the attack on the 12th by bandits on Yartasha community of Maru local government of the State, where 11 persons were reportedly killed and an unspecified number of community members carried away to the forests.
“On the following day, the 13th, Tsafe town of Tsafe local government, about 30km from the State capital, Gusau was attacked by bandits who killed one person and abducted many.
“Again, on the 14th, Maguru town in Kaura Namoda local government was attacked, resulting in the killing of 20 people while many, including women and children, were abducted with animals rustled.
“On the 15th was Magami district in Gusau local government area, the bandits unleashed their terror on the community, killing 10 people and abducted others.
“This was closely followed on the 16th, when the bandits laid siege on Dan-Isah village, killing 11 persons and abducted many.”
The publicity secretary alleged that the governor and his government watched without any action.
“ Today, after one year in office, the people of the State could only see the Governor on television stations and social media platforms within and outside the country, enjoying highlife with his friends, family and colleagues while his State bleeds.
“We wish to plead with the Governor to remember his promises and the current role he occupies so that he can reverse these unbecoming attitudes for the better,” the statement added…READ FULL ARTICLE
