PEPT Judgement Leaves Much To Be Desired, Says Group

ASABA – A Group, Rescue Nigeria Global Network has said that the judgment of the presidential election peti­tion tribunal has left much to be desired.

The group said, “RNGN observed that the Tribunal judges, who were meant to uphold justice as unbiased umpires in the Nigerian Presidential election peti­tions and contentions, open­ly and vigorously became players in a game they are meant to be referees.

“Evidentially, the ruling as transmitted and recorded showed somewhat a 100 per­cent support of some partic­ular teams in the game they are umpires in.

“The body language, man­nerism, expressions, choice of words and accusations on the petitioners left nothing to wonder. ‘Are the judges the defense counsels of APC and INEC?’

“From the beginning of the judgement till the end, the tribunal judges were seen and recorded defend­ing the actions of APC and the INEC.

“All members across the continents of the world including Europe, North America, South America, Australia, Asia, and Africa watched with dismay the tribunal ruling of 6th Sep­tember, 2023.

“All criticism meted were only on the witness­es and expert witnesses of Labour Party and PDP. No criticisms on the statements and submissions of the APC and INEC witnesses.

“Citizens are asking, are the tribunal judges the de­fense counsel of APC and INEC or are they judges meant to deliver justice?”

The group said that the judges obviously did not consider the allegations, contentions, substantia­tions, actions, and inactions of APC, INEC as well as their witnesses….CONTINUE READING
