
On Friday, September 1, 2023, J-K Gadzama LLP held a colloquium and a book presentation commemorating the silver jubilee of its Founding Principal Partner Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, SAN’s conferment with the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

The celebration was hosted by the Minister of Education Prof. Tahir Mamman, OON, SAN and graced by the Chairman of Body of Benchers, Hon. Justice Peter Mary Odili CFR, JSC (RTD) who was the Chairperson of the Occasion, Chief Wole Olanipekun CFR, SAN, the Guest Speaker, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN, Special Guest of Honour, and a number of Royal Fathers which included His Royal Highness Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin El-Kanemi, CFR, FNSE, His Imperial Majesty Deji of Akure Kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Aladetoyin O. Aladelusi, CFR, His Royal Highness Emir of Uba, Alhaji Aliyu Ibn Ismaila Mamza II, Labour Minister, His Excellency Simon Lalong, His Excellency former Governor of Adamawa State, Bala James Nggilari, His Excellency former Governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, SAN, former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Arch. Ibrahim Bunu (who is now incumbent Chairman of the Borno-Yobe People’s Forum), Adeboyega Awomolo SAN and his wife Victoria Awomolo SAN, the Vice President II of the Nigerian Bar Association, Clement Chukwu Emeka (Democrat), General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Adesina Adegbite, immediate past chair of the SPIDEL, Dr. Monday Ubani, former Secretary of SPIDEL Mr. Victor Onyeakachi, Chief CP Oli and a host of respected elder state men and women.
The theme of the event was “The Nigeria of our Dream; A call to the Patriots” which was well spoken on by the Guest Speaker when he drew historic background of the name Nigeria making illustration on the significance of names. He said all names have meanings and sometimes when our names do not represent what we stand upon, then we must change our names. Towards the end of his speech, he added that: “I have known the celebrant for quiet long, he is one of the few to have reached this feat in the legal profession and I cannot say for ones when he disrespected me or has shown discourtesy to any member of the legal profession, he is patient, humble and lifted of the Lord. That is J-K and that is what his name means to me.”
Midway into the event, the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN, unveiled the books titled “J-K Through the Cases” and “Compendium of Articles in Honour of J-K Gadzama, SAN”. while unveiling the books, Mr. Fagbemi highlighted that these are resources not for now only but also for future generations.
Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, SAN appreciated all guests who took time to celebrate with him physically or virtually and he also mentioned that all that he is doing today is in order to give back to the legal profession and the society at large. In the course of his remark, he drew attention to the news of coups taking place in Africa, emphasising the negative effects of any coup d’etat, Nigeria having had its fair share of military coups and cited the need for the stability of governance in our country.
The event ended at 1:17PM by a vote of thanks given by Madu Joe Kyari Gadzama, ESQ a Partner at the firm, following the cutting of cake and subsequent group photographs….CONTINUE READING
