The 2,670 graduates newly employed by the Yobe state government have received their first salary, one month after biometric documentation.

Some of the new staff posted their payment slips on social media and engaged in shopping spree.
Manu Kachalla, one of those newly employed, said “Governor Buni has given us the mother of all palliatives by ending our life of unemployment and now fully employed.”
Abubakar Usman, 31 and father of two, said he graduated from the University of Maiduguri and was unemployed for over five years until now.
“Until now that our kind hearted governor, His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni CON, gave us massive employment, I have been jobless; we are grateful,” he said.
Hadiza Mohammed, another new employee said “Governor Buni has given us a lifelong palliative, we are sincerely grateful.”
Kolo Mustapha, who lost his father to Boko Haram, said the employment has provided him, his mother and siblings with a new means of livelihood.
“We lost our father and our bread winner to the Boko Haram insurgency in Geidam, this employment has provided us with succour and means of livelihood,” Kolo
said.
Meanwhile, traders at the Bayan Tasha market said they have recorded increase in business after payment of the August salary by the state government.
Alh. Saleh Musa, a foodstuff vendor, said civil servants bought large quantities of foodstuff after receiving their salaries.
Malah Bukar, a provision store owner, said “many civil servants bought provisions and other family needs after payment of salary by the state government.
