The wages and benefits received by senators have long been a source of intense debate among Nigerians.

Nigerian senators receive a monthly salary and allowance of N29.48 million, per a report posted by @StatiSense.
According to the breakdown, the basic income is N2.48m, while the furniture allowance, housing allowance, and constituency allowance total N7.45m, N4.97m, and N4.97m, respectively.

Report confirms how much senators split as a “holidays” allowance, which was Akpabio’s gaffe.
In a related story, Legit.ng stated that it has been established that Senators received the sum of N2 million as a travel allowance for their break until their resumption in September, in response to the contentious “token” comment made by Senate President Godswill Akapbio.

At the live plenary session on Monday, August 7, Senate President Akpabio revealed the “token” that will be deposited into the accounts of the legislators. He was referring to the N2 million travel allowance.
