The Dutchman have also signed the likes of Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund this summer.
However, Ferguson believes Onana, who joined Man United from Inter Milan, is very athletic.
Ferguson also gave his thoughts on Hojlund.
“Erik ten Hag has done a fantastic job,” Ferguson told NBC Sports.
“He is grabbed it, he’s brought his own players in, I think that was important.
“If he gets the new centre-forward [Hojlund] ready quickly, they will be a really good side. Because that is what they have really lacked in the last few years, a top centre-forward.
“The rest of the team is very good. There are great, experienced defenders in Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez.”
