LAGOS – A trainee aircraft, Jabiru J430, on Tuesday afternoon crashed at Oba Akran, Ikeja area of Lagos.
The turbo crop aircraft with the registration number, 5N CCQ, Daily Independent gathered, was on its way to Ibadan as a test flight.

Daily Independent gathered that the aircraft, which departed the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos, developed fault just a few minutes after take-off and descended at 1,500ft.
It was learnt that the pilot decided to drop the aircraft on the way at Oba Akran, but because of the size of the aircraft, it was easy to maneuver.
But the two occupants were critically injured and were immediately ferried to a hospital by the officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
Daily Independent also learnt that the aircraft had five hours fuel endurance in its tank as at the time of the crash.
Besides, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has been notified of the accident and has commenced immediate investigation.
A statement by Mr. Tunji Oketunbi, the General Manager, Public Affairs, NSIB, said that the light single airplane operated by Air First Hospitality & Tours, crashed around a little after 1500hrs local time on August 1, 2023.
The statement confirmed that the aircraft was on a test flight within Lagos with two passengers onboard before it crashed, adding that the souls onboard had been taken to the hospital.
The statement emphasised that the aircraft caught fire on impact, but the spread was contained by the rainfall at the time of impact.
