These sit-at-home protests have been organized by the factional leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Simon Ekpa, in protest of the detention of the group’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Senator Sani proposed that the government should distribute N50,000 palliatives to residents of the South-East region every Monday in marketplaces, as the sit-at-home protests are typically observed on Mondays. The aim of this suggestion is to encourage people to come out and resume their regular activities.
In a tweet shared on Sunday, the former lawmaker stated, “Share 50k palliatives in the market every Monday to end sit-at-home.”
